Boatmaster

The London School of Boat handling is an R.Y.A Recognised Training Establishment

Boatmaster was formed by John A Polley M.I.I.M.S,  a qualified R.Y.A Instructor and a department of Trade Boatman of some 20plus years experience of passenger craft both narrow and wide beam.

Most people learn boat handling by trial and error, or at best by some form of very basic tuition from a hire company. Learning by trial and error has the unfortunate drawback of perpetuating the bad practice's as well as the good. In days past most people were given good advice from the local lock keepers, alas these people are no longer with us, and this good advice no longer available. Serious boating accidents on inland waterways are thankfully still relatively rare but are on the increase due to the increased interest in the canal environment, numerous smaller incidents are all to common are rarely reported and could often be avoided. With professional R.Y.A tuition your boating can be made safer, more enjoyable for yourself and other users and result in increased confidence, safe in the knowledge that you have successively completed an internally recognised course.
